iomart group has today acquired the entire issued share capital of RapidSwitch Limited, a leading managed hosting provider and currently ranked by Deloittes as the 10th fastest growing technology company in the UK, for £4.3M cash on completion with a further £0.95M payable on 31st March 2010.
We are delighted to announce that our new data centre, Spectrum House, went operational last month. This data centre project was started in July 2007, and gives us 14,000 square foot of capacity for our clients and their future requirements. All new orders are being installed to Spectrum House, and it is now supporting close to 1,000 servers and over 2.5 gigabits of traffic. We will be updating our website soon with a virtual tour and specification of the new facility, and will email our clients when this is ready. We have reviewed our colocation pricing to take into account the new range of energy efficient servers available. We have changed the pricing for our colocation package, reducing the price to £36 per month for the 1U package. We have also reduced the power allocation from 0.5 amps to 0.4 amps. The net effect of this is that there is no change in pricing for high power usage servers, but energy efficient servers now cost less to host with us.
We are delighted at the success of our introductory VPS offer. Since the launch of the service in January, we have installed hundreds of virtual servers for both existing clients and also new clients. The offer has been much more successful than we thought, so we have decided to extend the special rate for VPS Starter and VPS Standard from March 31st to May 31st, an additional two months. For existing clients there is nothing you need to do – you will continue to be charged the introductory rate until May 31st. For new customers, you can continue to sign up and benefit from the offer.
