RapidSwitch goes Kommando for UK’s biggest gaming festival
RapidSwitch is going Kommando for the UK's biggest gaming festival which takes place this weekend.
We're sponsoring Unitedkommandos, one of the amateur teams taking part in gaming extravaganza Insomnia at the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire, which brings together gamers and industry leaders to celebrate games in all their forms. Over 3000 gamers play continually over 4 days.
Unitedkommandos is captained by Daniel Martin from Wickford in Essex who runs a public gaming website which is hosted on Quad Core dedicated servers hosted in our Maidenhead Data Centre.
Daniel Martin says: "Almost 30,000 gamers from all over the UK and Europe play online with us and they get a great service thanks to the hosting we have with RapidSwitch . Not only do our players get a seamless, lag-free experience thanks to the low latency of the connections, RapidSwitch also ensures that when the infrastructure in Maidenhead is being upgraded we get plenty of notice about server downtime so we can keep our players fully informed."
UnitedKommandos is taking two teams to Insomnia to play Counter Strike Source, a game that pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds.
Daniel adds: "Insomnia is the biggest event in the UK for the gaming community and United Kommandos is delighted to be promoting RapidSwitch during the event. It's a great opportunity to shout about the high availability you get from using RapidSwitch's cost-effective servers to host your gaming services."
Sarah Haran, managing director of RapidSwitch, says: "Our dedicated servers are perfect for the online gaming community. With both i3 and i7 systems available and clock speeds up to 3.8GHz, our systems play all of the latest generation games. Support for up to 32GB of RAM ensures that large multiplayer sessions are possible on our platforms without slow-down. With excellent peering arrangements, we provide low-latency, high quality bandwidth and due to our vast network capacity there are no bottlenecks anywhere in our network."
RapidSwitch is a subsidiary of managed hosting and cloud computing company iomart Group plc which was recently named Scotland's PLC of the Year 2012 and owns and manages five data centres across the UK.
