Data Centre Operator of the Year!
iomart Hosting, the parent company of RapidSwitch, is delighted to announce that it has been named Data Centre Operator of the Year 2009 in the annual 'Storrie' awards organised by Storage Magazine.
Now in its sixth year, the Storage Awards, or 'Storries' as they are affectionately known, allows the readers of Storage Magazine to vote for, and reward, companies and services that they believe have made significant contributions to the IT industry during the year. It is believed that this year's awards saw over 20,000 votes cast.
Angus MacSween, CEO, iomart Hosting stated: "We are naturally very pleased to have won such a prestigious award, particularly as it is voted and awarded by the readers of Storage Magazine, one of the most established and influential technology publications around."
"We are sometimes viewed as a relatively new entrant within the Data Centre Operators market, having procured our own data centre facilities back in 2007, and yet the reality is that we have been managing hosting environments for over a decade, and we fully understand this marketplace."
MacSween stated: "We originally made the decision to purchase and manage our own data centres as we were acutely aware that we could only deliver a 100% business uptime guarantee by owning the whole end to end – domain to data centre – customer experience. We are now beginning to reap the benefits of our geographically spread data centre network, and are able to offer a uniquely resilient high availability 'managed infrastructure as a service' solution for any organisation on an outsourced basis at lower cost than in-house."
iomart Hosting owns and operates a UK network of 5 data centres – London, Leicester, Glasgow, Maidenhead and Nottingham – offering a total of 52,000 square foot of advanced data centre space. Each data centre is fully powered, secure, resilient and newly equipped to handle the demands of modern computing trends such as high density computing, virtualisation, energy conservation, cloud computing and multi site disaster recovery.
